5 Ways We Ensure Your Seattle Wedding Flowers are Fresh
Our wedding clients value high quality, fine art flowers for their wedding day. Our couples move with intention, and every detail counts to create an incredible wedding experience. We understand how transformative it is to have fresh flowers fill the space on your wedding day. At our floral studio in Seattle, we take the freshness and quality of your wedding flowers seriously in order to create the most beautiful designs. Here are five ways we ensure that the flowers we use for your wedding are fresh and beautiful.
1 / Sourcing local and seasonal
We love using locally grown flowers that don't travel very far. Our floral studio sources flowers from local growers, which means we reduce the time the flowers spend in transit, ensuring that they are as fresh as possible. While we don’t exclusively use local flowers, we lean into them whenever available.
2 / Hydration is key
We hydrate and condition the flowers properly before designing. Before we use the flowers for your wedding, we hydrate and condition them for approximately 24 hours prior to starting any design work. Proper conditioning means the flowers can withstand the stress of being arranged into installations, bouquets, centerpieces etc. We also tap into our flower care expertise to properly understand how to care for specific flower varieties.
3 / Flower cooler for sensitive blooms
We utilize a cooler for more sensitive flowers such as peonies, dahlias, and sweet peas. Some flowers are more sensitive than others and require cooler temperatures to stay fresh. We love using these delicate flowers for your wedding designs because many times, they are the most special! We store them in our cooler until it's time to use them, and this ensures that they stay fresh and beautiful. Some other flower varieties may benefit from sunbathing in a warm environment to open them up.
4 / Water sources
We keep all designs in water sources before delivery for as long as possible. We carefully design all of your wedding flowers in water sources, so they are hydrated and fresh, even during transport. Centerpieces and other arrangements are carefully monitored after being designed to make sure they stay hydrated. Boutonnieres and wrist corsages get carefully packed into a “hydration chamber” and stored in the cooler. All the installation flowers get transported to the venue in buckets for optimal hydration.
5 / Flower selection and considerations
We choose certain flowers for personal designs that may be out of water for longer, such as boutonnieres and wrist corsages. For these designs, we use tried and true flower varieties that we feel confident can withstand being out of water for longer periods without wilting. We also want to make sure these designs are as “hug-proof” as possible. The same is true for flowers used in large installations which may be out of water for the duration of the event.
At our Seattle floral studio, we understand the importance of using fresh, quality flowers and foliages for your wedding day. By using locally grown flowers and taking extra steps to hydrate and store the flowers properly, we ensure that your wedding flowers are as fresh as possible. Using fresh, quality product is just step one in executing dreamy wedding flowers for your big day.
